Social Care Wales provides leadership and expertise in social care and early years in Wales.

To do this, we lead on developing and regulating the social care workforce, service improvement, data and research to improve care.
We’re now looking for a Service Designer to join us on a 12 month fixed-term basis (maternity cover). This role is offered with flexible working options, and we will consider candidates as part of a job share.
You must be based in the UK to apply for this role and be able to visit one of the stated offices when required.

The Role
As a Service Designer, you will deliver our digital strategy, working across Social Care Wales to design user-centred services.
Leading end-to-end service design, you’ll tackle complex policy and service challenges. Insights will be turned into practical improvements that shape how people interact with our online and offline services, always ensuring user needs come first.
You’ll also analyse user needs and business objectives, map journeys and service blueprints, run workshops, develop and test prototypes, and translate ideas into clear, actionable designs.
Additionally, you will:
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on service design projects
- Gather and interpret user needs to define problems and develop evidence-based solutions
About You
To be considered as a Service Designer, you will need:
- A strong grounding and experience in user-centred design, from concept to final delivery
- Experience participating in research and using insight to inform service design
- Experience creating service design artefacts, prototypes, user journeys and service flows
- Experience analysing and synthesising data and user research
- A degree or equivalent vocational qualification
