Role responsibilities

Lead the grant funding team in the management of claims and payments to and from Local Authorities in relation to the Welsh Government's Active Travel Fund and TrawsCymru services, and other grants as advised, improving process, procedures and systems to provide resilience across the team. Lead the design and delivery of any change to these processes, procedures and systems to accommodate bus contract management transferring into Transport for Wales (TfW).

  • Lead and coordinate the grant funding team by planning, prioritising and managing ongoing activities in liaison with project leads and line manager to ensure grant administration can be undertaken to enable settlement of grant applications and contract obligations in line with Welsh Government guidelines and desired transport outcomes.
  • Administer grant applications by communicating the current guidelines to applicants, as well as processing, checking and assessing applications to ensure compliance in line with Transport for Wales (TfW) sign off arrangements.
  • Administer grant and contract payment applications by providing support for the assessment of payment applications to the line manager, in line with key performance indicators to ensure payment applications are processed in a timely manner.
  • Provision of support, advice, liaison, training and management by using all communication to grant applicants and contract holders to ensure effective grant, contract and scheme delivery, including recommendations for enhancements to the grant processes where appropriate.

 

Who we’re looking for

  • Demonstrable experience in the development, review or reporting of grant/funding applications, or other financial claims within Welsh Government or Local Authorities or public transport operations.
  • Previous demonstrable experience of applying a high level of attention to detail and finance/excel experience.
  • Experience of following process, procedures or work instructions to demonstrate consistent and accurate administration activities.
  • Demonstrable experience of using Microsoft Office and/or database/CRM systems.

 

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.

Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
