About Us

We are Qualifications Wales, the independent organisation responsible for regulating general and vocational qualifications in Wales. We focus on publicly funded qualifications, including GCSEs, A Levels and vocational qualifications.

We’re looking for a Qualifications Manager to join us on a fixed-term contract until 31st December 2023. This is a full-time (37 hours per week) post, however requests for alternative working patterns, including part-time and job share may be discussed at interview.

Your Role

You will join the Qualifications Policy and Reform Directorate as a Qualifications Manager.

Initially leading on key projects relating to the review and reform of national qualifications, you will be involved in a wide range of different work. This may include projects on qualifications for the new Curriculum for Wales, vocational and technical qualifications, sector reviews, Skills Challenge Certificate (within the Welsh Baccalaureate) or Essential Skills Wales.

Your work will be high profile and influential and you will play a lead role in qualifications review and reform.

About You

To join us as a Qualifications Manager, you will need:

- Experience of working at a management level in a regulatory, qualifications development or quality assurance context
- Significant experience in the qualifications, education or training sectors
- Experience of managing or leading projects or programmes of work in a structured way to deliver agreed outcomes
- Experience of engaging and negotiating with a wide range of stakeholders, including employers, in a formal and professional context
- Demonstrable understanding of effective approaches to the development, review, regulation or quality assurance of qualifications and/or education programmes
- Demonstrable understanding of the qualifications landscape across the UK

Experience of working closely with qualifications in a management or professional capacity would be beneficial to your application. An understanding of the effective approaches to the design and delivery of assessment would also be an advantage, as would the ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh.

Other organisations may call this role Compliance Manager, Regulatory Manager, Qualifications Regulations Manager, Project Manager, or Programme Manager.
